Who We Are

Meir Medical Center

Meir Medical Center is a leading public hospital, a part of Clalit health services, Israel’s largest healthcare organization. Founded in 1956 and located in Kfar Saba, Meir serves a population of approximately 1,000,000 residents in the Sharon region and beyond. Meir offers services to all HMOs, the IDF, insurance companies, and international patients.

With 797 beds across departments including internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, orthopedics, and women’s health, the hospital is recognized for its clinical excellence in fields such as cardiology, nephrology, hematology, women’s health, and child health.

Meir is also a national leader in research and innovation, with eight research laboratories, access to Clalit’s comprehensive clinical data, and active partnerships with academic institutions and startups.

As an academic medical center, Meir is home to a renowned nursing school and a national training center for pediatric emergency medicine, including the international PTLS Program.

Meir Innovation Center

Established in 2022, the Innovation Center at Meir Medical Center leads, promotes, and integrates impactful healthcare solutions to advance high quality and human-centered medicine.

We cultivate a culture of innovation across the hospital by fostering collaboration among clinical teams, engineers, entrepreneurs, and key stakeholders in the Israeli and global health ecosystem.

Our work is focused around four pillars: innovation infrastructure development, research and development, business development and open innovation, and promoting technology transfer.

 

Flagship programs:

  • Enlight Med – Incubating solutions to unmet medical needs promoting development and commercialization

  • Enlight Garage – advancing engineering-based clinical solutions

  • Clinitech – offering startups early clinical guidance and collaboration with Meir’s experts

  • Enlight AI Lab – nurturing artificial intelligence practical solutions in healthcare

 

We welcome partnerships with startups, academic institutions, and ecosystem industry players to co-develop and clinically validate meaningful solutions that emerge from real clinical needs.

Dr. Guy Topaz

Deputy Director, Meir Medical Center

As the Deputy Director, overseeing 6 internal wards, the emergency medicine department and ongoing operations. Previously served as the director of the innovation center.

Prior to that dr. Topaz served as a Senior Physician in the Department of Internal Medicine C at Meir Medical Center, he provided clinical care during the challenging period of COVID-19. Dr. Topaz has also conducted extensive clinical research and mentored residents. Additionally, he founded and directed the Marom-Medical and Research Leadership Program, advancing social-change projects. Dr. Topaz is a graduate of the Gray Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.

Uri Goren

Director, Innovation Center, Meir Medical Center

Uri Is healthcare innovation and digital transformation leader with over 15 years of experience across pharma, healthcare systems, and public initiatives. He serves on the board of the Israel HealthTech Society. Uri is also an international speaker and a long-time advocate for patient participation in healthcare.

In the past, he held leadership roles at Teva Pharmaceuticals, led marketing at Novamed, and lectured on digital medicine at Ben-Gurion University. He holds a B.A. in Communication and Management from the College of Management and an M.A. in Philosophy and Digital Culture from Tel Aviv University. Uri is also an alumnus of MIT Sloan Executive Education in Digital Transformation

Ofri Berkman

Project Manager, innovation Center, Meir Medical Center

Ofri manages innovation projects at Meir Medical Center, promoting cross-sector collaborations that align with the hospital’s strategic vision. A licensed physiotherapist by training, brings deep clinical insight to the innovation process. Ofri guides projects from early ideation through definition, validation, and implementation stages.

Hila Miler

Head Nurse, Pediatric Emergency Department, Meir Medical Center

Hila leads nursing operations in the Pediatric ER at Meir Medical Center, managing staff, logistics, and clinical training. With a strong background in advanced clinical procedures, she also serves as a senior instructor at MSR (Israel Center for Medical Simulation) and holds both MA and BA degrees in clinical nursing from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Hila’s experience and expertise play a key role in driving clinical innovation at Meir.
